Bob Farber was the first hire at Symark International. Since he joined, the company has evolved from a mainframe security company to a company focused on identity management in a Unix-Linux environment, and Farber has grown with it.

Linux and UNIX-like operating systems in general are regarded as being more secure for the common user, in contrast with operating systems that have "Windows" as part of their name.

Abracode announced the immediate availability of OnMyCommand 2.0 on Monday. The new version of the Unix shell script and AppleScript application creates command droplets in Cocoa, and added support for custom nib-based Cocoa dialogs

Sun on Monday began selling its highest-end Unix servers with new 1.5GHz UltraSPARC IV+ chips. Sun used its milestones and monster servers as fodder for bashing IBM, which recently began a Unix server upgrade.
